Upcoming Projects

Tanzania, June 2026

Nurses Heart to Heart will travel to Orkesumet, in the northeast of Tanzania, and Sumbawanga, in the southwest of Tanzania to work alongside local partners in conducting community screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and malnutrition, with a particular focus on observation to help improve processes, efficiency, and accuracy in the screenings and patient follow-up. NHTH will also have two Certified Nurse Midwives on the team, who will partner with local midwives to provide prenatal healthcare alongside the screenings.

Kurdistan, Iraq, Fall 2026—currently delayed due to armed conflict in the region

Nurses Heart to Heart will be in Iraq for a supply and strategy trip to the Bajed Kandala Yazidi internally displaced persons camp in Duhok. We will resupply the medical clinic pharmacy and meet with the camp’s midwife and other healthcare providers to discuss needs and goals.

The NHTH team is planning to travel to Baghdad to meet with staff from the Iraqi Ministry of Health. And in Erbil, the NHTH team will teach at the Erbil Surgery Specialty Hospital Cardiac Center, as well as at the Nursing and Midwifery Development Centre. Dr. Rich will also be meeting in person with the two Kurdish nurses for whom she provides remote academic mentorship as they pursue their Masters in Nursing degrees.
