-
Yes. Nurses Heart to Heart is an exempt organization under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible under section 170 of the Code.

Excellent question! NHTH’s budget can be broken down into three main categories:
Teaching trips to Iraq, Tanzania, Uganda, and elsewhere
This is the largest section of our budget and includes all transportation, lodging, food, and teaching supplies and materials, like CPR manikins, that are then donated to local partners.
Financial and material support for our in-country partners
Part of equipping nurses and midwives in the developing world is equipment! Nurses Heart to Heart provides regular financial and material resources, such as regularly supplying medications to the IDP camp health clinic in Iraq.
We also meet emergency and “one off” needs, like providing fetal dopplers to two hospitals in Uganda. And we fund educational scholarships for local nurses and nursing students in the countries where we serve.
Administrative costs
This includes all of the “scaffolding” that makes our in-country work possible, for example:
the costs of record-keeping software and hosting and maintaining a website
staff hours to plan teaching trips, source supplies and resources for the field, provide mentorship to in-country partners, support donors, maintain communications, etc.
payroll taxes, accounting services, etc.
Admittedly, very few people get excited about nonprofit administration, but this part of the work is absolutely essential to the work we do in the field.
