First, a big "thank you" to those of you who have given to support our new work in Uganda: THANK YOU!
One of the reasons that we so value investing in nurses, midwives, and other healthcare providers is that those investments grow exponentially: each nurse touches dozens, often hundreds of lives. You have made that exponential growth possible. Thank you!
The team leaves from Atlanta this coming Friday, March 28th. We are in the thick of packing and are getting excited.
Fun fact: it takes about nine suitcases to pack $10,000 worth of CPR manikins and other teaching materials!
It's a 24+ hour trip door-to-door and once we arrive in Kampala, this is our basic schedule:
Sunday, March 30: Meet with local team; set up teaching space
Monday, March 31: Teaching Day 1 in Kampala
Tuesday, April 1: Teaching Day 2 in Kampala
Wednesday, April 2: Teaching Day 3 in Kampala
Thursday, April 3: Visits to Kampala University School of Nursing, Mityana School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Humble Vessel Clinic
Friday, April 4: Daytrip to Bombo for teaching and visits to two hospitals
Saturday, April 5: Meetings with local ministries and partners in Kampala
Sunday, April 6: Debrief and planning meeting with Ugandan partners; farewell dinner
Thank you again for your engagement and investment in this important work of supporting nurses. When nurses receive the education, supplies, and support they need, entire communities thrive. Thank you!
